ReplyDeletealoha Spark - when i see this bird, it surprises me with the intensity of it's color. even so, this is altered enough to bring that out. however this is an Eastern Cardinal - it's not native to hawaii. i've often seen it in the Eastern USA and even in Washington State. it surprised me to see it here. there is another cardinal here that i had not seen which is cool to see too - it's a Brazilian Cardinal - it has an intense bright red head and a slate blue back and wings with a very white belly. cool, yes. it's not native here either. ...that sounds like a long trip from Brazil to me, but it probably didnt have to deal with passports...
