This Bamboo Chime was sent through the US Postal System in 2008. It arrived a short time later in excellent condition.

Wow... this bamboo chime is so beautiful. I like the concept of sending it through the mail system without any packaging.
ReplyDeletealoha Tonje - thank you. just to be clear... the image you see here is actually 4 views of the same piece. i rotated the piece because it is painted all around and that was the only way to see it all - then i combined all 4 views into one image.
ReplyDeletei could easily see doing 4 different pieces all with a common motif tho - the original chime has a great deep soft sound.
the concept of "naked" mail art is great, yes. it's fun to think of these things passing through the mail system from person to person until it reaches the destination. - i like that idea a lot too.
thanks for commenting on this - it was my first attempt at "naked" mail art...
give it a try - there are lots of people who swap with this concept - sometimes a clear plastic bottle is used and items that can be seen are placed inside - the idea being that the "thing" is viewable to all.
